Last day in Japan!!!
Hi guys! It is currently 6pm Japan time and we are on the flight on the way back to Singapore! Since no net is available on the plane obviously, this post will be published upon arrival in Singapore.
As typical of the 2 sleepyheads, they had trouble climbing out of bed, so we left the hostel only about 10am. As checkout time is at 12 noon, we checked out first and left our luggage with the staff.
Having tasted most of the foods we wanted to try in Japan, we went to Akiba straight and went for the curry rice place again. Remember the 2.5kg meal I mentioned? This is a photo of the guys who attempted and succeeded to finish it in under 30 mins, upon which you don't have to pay for the meal. Champion guy is at bottom left, who completed in 5min 25sec. Every minute eat 0.5kg of food?? Awesome...
With time to spare after buying the last of our stuff, we headed into an arcade where Baha-sama played some Blazeblue. Sadly he hardly played 2 rounds as his favourite Jin when he got challenged by a guy using Carl! Quite a close match, luckily is not 1 of those crazy imbal guys we have seen playing. Sadly Baha still lost and we left.
Final stop of a must go in Akiba, we entered a maid cafe!! Actually I dragged the other 2 guys in, as I was determined to get the full Akiba experience. We ordered drinks and snacks and got the full "moe" treatment, lolz. We had to kinda do hand motions and stuff when our drinks were served, lol. Also took a photo which will never be revealed, due to reputation purposes, LOL!
To those interested, we had to pay 500yen per hour each just to be there, and the set which let's you take photos is exp, but the rest was otherwise quite ok by Japan standards.
Retreating from the cafe, we headed back to the hostel to get our luggage, then by recommendation of the hostel staff, took a cab to Ueno station, at 980yen. This was followed by taking the Keisei skyliner at 1,960yen each straight to the airport, arriving at 4.20pm.
Arriving at the airport, we did a quick check-in, then bought some stuff to finish off our money and headed into the plane! Between all 3 of us, we have officially about 300yen only left, lol. So flat but satisfied, we are now on the way home.
And this ends the full DuelingDays Japan experience! It has been a rather long holiday for us, and it's really fun, though amount of money spent gets abit scary when I think back, and starting to miss my own room and PC, heh. I hope you have enjoyed the blog posts done by me and that it felt like you were there with me~ In the meanwhile, no more blog posts anytime soon from me, (time for Baha to do some work), and I'm signing off to relax on the plane, zzzz....

Day 7 in Japan
Hello guys, its finally down to our 7th and final day to be spent in Japan! Tomorrow we will be heading off in the afternoon for our flight back to Singapore and will arrive slightly past midnight there after. So you can expect 1 last blog post from me while we are at the airport tomorrow, then I need break from blogging liao, tired out, LOL!
Alright, as expected, we are starting on our final leg of the holiday already, and everyone is kinda tired out from all the walking and shopping, heh. I was up by 8+, but the rest only got up like, 1 hour late. By the time we had left the hostel, it was already closer to 10am, so we arrived at Tsukiji Market only at 10.45am

By the time we arrived here, as expected there was no more action left to see. By action, Im referring to the auctions and stuff. Typically, if you come early enough, alot of the higher class restaurants will be there in the morning to purchase all the fresh fish for the day, and there will be auctions going on.
So with nothing much left other then looking around, we headed to the restaurant with the longest queue and got our breakfast there! You can see from the picture on top, it is super filling... We had trouble finishing the breakfast, but still went for it anyway, so as not to get the cook unhappy, lol. However, this bunch of aunties sitting next to us finished everything like nobodys business. All 3 of us just take all the ingredients and left quite abit of rice. That being said, it was all still super fresh. We could really, TASTE the sea in our mouths, it was that uber.
Moving on, next stop was the Pokemon center! That being said, it is actually more like just quite a big shop filled with Pokemon merchandise, such as games, key chains, soft toys etc. We saw the trailer being played on the tvs for the next pokemon movie, looked quite super, then made a few purchases, and headed on to the next area!

Determined to not make it a trip where we only go to Akiba for all days in Tokyo, we headed out into other areas to have a look around. First stop was Harajuku! Baha had been here before and he brought us to the park where there were supposedly alot of cosplay being done there. Sadly, probably due to it being still early on a weekday + there was some construction being done in the park, nothing of major interest to see there. So we just visited some nearby streets and headed off.
Shinjuku was probably more interesting in my opinion. Even though we similarly just went around shops and looked all over the place, it being a more uptown area meant we saw alot more.... well dressed people would be a good term. Lots of girls and guys with accessories and stuff trying to look their best, so it was quite pleasing on the eyes, lol. Also, we have been seeing a few girls here and there in Kimonos ever since we entered Japan. Not sure of the exact date, but I believe there is some Coming of Age festival or something around now? Maybe Rauzes can give the correct answer? I only know Children`s day was on 5th of March.
*Table flipping game?!?!?
This was the highlight of Shinjuku probably, lol. We have been visiting arcades and have seen a few cute games here and there but this takes the cake. This game is all about slamming and flipping the table. Looking at 1 guy playing, what happens is you can choose a scenario. The one we saw went like this.
1. You are an aunty kinda fat woman, who finally decided to enter a night club the first time in your life
2. However, you got disappointed as all the hosts were old uncles who are your age
3. Worse is they are doing this crappy %#"% dance which you dont even know whats going on
4. Time to show some anger!!!
So your table is filled with champagne glasses and stuff. What you had to do is slam the table to show anger, and cause damage to property and stuff. Towards the end, you flip the table! Table goes flying along and destroys tons of stuff with it, and they show it in slow motion and replay it too, lol. Then your score is calculated by how much monetary damage you did, heh. In the end, its probably more like just a stress relief kinda game, but funny all the same.
Well, not much more was planned for Tokyo after that, so being the true Otakus as we were, we headed back to Akihabara to go walk around, as well as find stuff which we saw yesterday, but didnt buy as we hoped to get better deals. Before buying anything though, some food was needed! (It was already 4+, and our breakfast was at 11am) We headed into a kaiten-sushi place (Revolving belt sushi) in Akiba and ordered some stuff. Only counter seats were available, and we got to see the chef making our sushi fresh just as we order them. Fantastic stuff. Best part is prices are definitely comparable to Singapore prices, yet obviously tastes that much better, even though this is just one of the usual stores there. In the end, though, as we were planning to have a proper dinner later on, we decided to just have a few plates to fill our stomachs and left.
Moving on, we bought the few stuff we had seen earlier (I finally started buying stuff for myself!!) We headed into a card shop we had been at before and saw our few card players there. However, as they all seemed to be playing fun decks (Reactor deck, etc. Nothing serious), it felt weird to ask them to play. Without any further plan to walk around, me and Baha sat down and started playing, where some of them came over and we became the ones on show instead, haha. Nothing really happened though, so we just stayed there for awhile, then left after that.

We then left Akiba, and headed back to the hostel to put down our belongings. While I was there though, I asked the hostel staff about good Yakiniku places, and was directed to Gyu-kaku which was just 10 mins walk away. (Yes the same Gyu-kaku that is in Chijmes, but none of us ate that before anyway, so away we go!) Staff is seriously helpful here. Before we left the hostel, the staff actually took the initiative to print out some coupons for us to use, that got us free deserts.
The meats are totally awesome, and nothing really beats fresh grilled meats.... Yummy..... Not only that, but the meat quality was awesome and the charcoal fire was smoking hot, making our meal that much more enjoyable. Words just cannot describe the awesome tastes... While we were ordering though, the waitress asked us where we were from. When we said we were from Singapore, we got the full "Eh... Really?", as well as calling over some waitress friends to talk abit to us. We were however, generally left to enjoy our meals. Following that was our free deserts, where I got the shop`s speciality, maple syrup bread (To be grilled on the charcoal fire as well), to be eaten with vanilla ice cream.... Awesome..... Been seriously enjoying too much good food here, need to go gym when I head back to Singapore.
After dinner we headed back to our hostel, I seriously understand how people can eat hot food and feel cold after that (Due to digesting) I definitely felt the cold weather around me much more, even though the temperature shouldnt be that far off to before I entered
Anyway, that ends our day today! I realized that I have been simply talking about Akiba without really showing pictures. Which is logical, since we have been simply walking around similar areas, and almost all shops here do not allow you to take photos. As such, I decided to post a photo of some of the stuff purchased, for my friends and myself so far below. Till tomorrow`s final post then, bye bee!!!

Day 6 in Japan (Evening)
Hi guys! Finally here to post again! Was busy doing some packing up of the stuff we bought today so coming down quite late, its past midnight here already, tired siahz. Lets begin the journey!
*Tons of people surrounding the temple. Abit suprised since it was not yet Cherry blossom season, but there were still lots of tourist groups as well as school student groups around
*The famous big lantern outside the temple area
We finally left the hotel closer towards 10, and made our way to Kaminari-mon, which is about a 20min walk away from the hotel. There was a long string of shops all the way to the temple, though nothing exceptional interesting, just the usual touristy kinda shops there. We tested luck at the temple, and unsuprisingly I got the worst luck out of the 3. Whats new people?!?!? LOL
Not having had breakfast yet, we moved out of the temple and got brunch at a nearby ramen and rice restaurant, with gyozas to share around between us. Food was just usual Japanese goodness, nothing out of Japan extraordinary, so yupz!
*Tokyo's awesome JR Yamanote line! Our JR passes lets us travel on it for free, and it travels like, all around major parts of Tokyo. Took this for accessing quite a few places today
*Konami card game center!
After our lunch, we moved on to Ikebukurou first, where Baha had been in the past and that there were card shops. However, he remembered only 1 of the shops, and it was still too early for there to be players, so we just bought some stuff, and left the place.
Next up was onto Shibuya! Obviously not here for the shopping, lol. We came for the Konami card game center that was located here. Upon entering the card game center, we immediately got approached by the staff, who gave us card game IDs. With the IDs, we are apparently able to enter any of the tournaments in Japan, even though we are not locals, awesome! Sadly, we wont get the chance to do that, not if we dont want to explore Tokyo more, so guess wont be able to do that.
So the card game center is generally split into a few areas.
1. DT Area! DT machines from 1 to 8 nicely placed out for people to play
2. Shop Area! Usual packs and stuff for you to buy, nothing extraordinary here
3. Rental deck Area! More for people to try out different decks. Available for rental were like, Ice boundary decks, Frog decks, etc
4. Normal playing Area! Just the usual tables and stuff
Further more, people who did not have an opponent but wanted to play could access the counter. The staff would then do a microphone announcement and get people who are willing to play with you to come over. In the end, the decks played here were abit unusual for our tastes (Saw a field with MGS and Zombie world on the same side!) so we didnt play anyone and just left
After that, it was already about 5pm. We made our way to the favourite Akiba, where it was time to spend money, LOL! So whatever money I had left from the previous few areas were mainly spent here, though mine was mainly helping other people get stuff. Think less then 20% of the stuff I bought are for myself seriously. Didnt see any real inspiring stuff so no further photos of Akiba here for the blog.
However, we went into one of the card shops to look at stuff, and lo and behold, we saw the World Champ for 2008! He actually recognised Baha as well so they talked abit, and played deck for 1 round. Will get that video up within early next week hopefully, heh. We played a few rounds of deck here, then left the place.

Dinner was taken at the nearby Go! Go! Curry store, where I was famished, so I ordered this awesome 1,000 yen set. Seriously gigantic and totally filling. However, there was something which caught our eye. There was an even bigger set then my Major set, which was only available to be sold at 5 sets per day. That set is sold at 2,500 yen and the whole plate is supposed to weigh in at 3kg! Awesome stuff, LOL.
After dinner ended, we did slightly more shopping then left Akiba and headed home. One thing though, was the temperature was totally different from yesterday. We had very minimal rain today, and the sun was actually shining as well, though it was obviously still rather cold. So it kinda felt more like we were just in an aircon the whole day, nice....

Day 6 in Japan (Morning)
Alrighty guys! After finally going to sleep at 1+am in the morning, finally feel fresher now. Last night was quite tired, from all the walking and travelling, braving the snow and ice, then finally blogging 3 days worth of stuff. Zonked out straight after I had done my usual checking of stuff yesterday.
Its now 9+am in the morning, and as the usual morning bird who showered first, blogging here now while the other 2 slowpokes get their asses in their shower. This time round, we are currently staying in K's House Tokyo Oasis! Link is here. Our hotel is located right outside the Asakusa (Tsukuba) train station's north exit at about 3 mins walk away. The place costs us 3,900 yen each a night, which is quite cheap by Japan Tokyo standards. Price included a private room for the 3 of us, including an in-room toilet. For those travelling alone, they have dormitories available as well.
* I had found quite a few similar priced places, but all only took 2 men private room or were for hostels.
*On an extra note, this branch of Tokyo Oasis is brand new, having opened only a few months ago, so everything is nice and clean. Awesome~
For those who have done Japan travelling research, K's House will have definitely popped up somewhere. Thats because it is quite well known to be a very foreigner friendly place. Really too friendly imo. So far, all the occupants seem non-Japanese to me, with 80~90% dominantly Americans / Europeans. The staff are also extremely well-versed in English by Japan standards. I find myself mixing both in half the time so that I can still get my Japanese practice, heh.

So our 3 men room consists mainly of the above beds taking up the space. (Room is on the 2nd floor) In case you are wondering from the picture, Baha was already burrowed in under those giant fluffy blankets some where. Love the blankets in Japan, all simply awesome stuff. Beds are rather thin, with the thickness just slightly better then futons, but what the heck. Its abit hard but comfortable, so all is good.
Our standard bathroom cum toilet. Back to the first hotel status I guess, LOL. Bath-tub included is more like for leg soaking kinda size, and the usual not much space to turn kinda place. The only minor complain I have is the hot water is only up to a hot shower status if you turn on the hot water tap at full and leave it alone for like 2 mins first. Ignore cold water tap at all costs, LOL.

*Common pantry area. Lots of free condiments, fridge, microwave and toaster are here, etc. (Fridge and stuff are obviously not free, duh) Even free hot tea / coffee is here as well. Big group of foreigners spotted here last night playing games and chatting
And above pictures are of the common area. It is really a friendly place for the more 'ang moh' foreigners to be at home at. Extremely English friendly place, and it being mainly a hostel/dormitory means the people here tend to be more friendly as well? All in all, good place to set up as base camp for Tokyo, especially when we are just a 3 min train ride away from Otaku holy land, LOL.

Day 5 in Japan
And finally, Im down to putting up my post of the day!!!
*Dknightz spotted brushing teeth in Osaka!! He must have followed us here, god dammit~
Day started really late, with everyone tired out from the previous day walking. I got up at 8.30am but kinda stoned in the bed while the rest couldnt get up at all. In the end, they only got up at 9.30am... By the time we were ready @ 10.30am, we were already getting chased out of the hotel since the original checkout time is supposed to be 10am. We said our goodbyes to the hotel staff and left.
Having booked our Shinkansen tickets the night before, there were no worries of not getting to find a train ride to Tokyo. So we took our time, bought our train bentos and got on. Photo above is Angryboy's bento, cause I kinda was halfway through mine before I even realised I didnt take a photo. I had an Unagi bento and it was, so good.... I am so going to eat Unagi again before I head back to Singapore.

When we reached Tokyo, it was rather cold, with temperatures only around 2~6 degrees and lots of wind and some slight rain so all the full gear started appearing. Strongest is Angryboy in Ninja gear. (Note the Maple headgear) Thankfully I managed to get this hotel, which was really just 3 mins walk from the train exit, (Which is coincidentally only 2 train stops away from Akihabara, LOL) so we managed to get there and check in pretty quick.
After checking in, we made our way to Akiba, in true Otaku spirit. It was already quite late by the time we were there, AND we spent like an hour plus in another store (Angryboy on card buying spree after changing more money, LOL), so we didnt have much time to fully explore the place. We only saw inspiring row of duel terminals, filled with all the DTs from 1 ~ 7. DT 8 was also there, but suspiciously out of cards, LOL
By the time we were out of the building... It was snowing... Seriously awesome stuff...... It was that cold.... We began darting into building after building, LOL. Hungry after the long stay in the building, we got some Soba in the nearby place. So good.... Switched around this time, where Baha + Angryboy got a Oyako don + Soba set, while I got a Beef Soba and I added a tempura in. I think the cold temperature added to the fantastic taste. And the price is only about $7+ SGD, seriously nice...
We explored abit more of Akiba after that, but shops were starting to close, and obviously photos are not allowed in the shops. (Took some nice ones secretly with my camera, so see me if interested again) As before, we kinda walked till 9+ when all the shops closed, and we made our way back to the hotel. There was ICE on the floor by then. LOL. Layer of ice on cars, the full works. However even with the ice, that did not stop maids using umbrellas and giving out phamplets. Apparently they only close at 11pm. Will try and enter one over next few days to look see, haha.
So reached back hotel at 10pm, havent even unpacked yet and Im finally done with all the blog posting, woohoo!!! Phew, finally done. Time to go up, do some unpacking, shower and get some rest, since the other 2 otakus will wanna go to Akiba asap, LOL. Will do my hotel post tmr morning so, cya tmr morning!!!

Day 4 in Japan (Evening)
Woohoo, Im on a totally new level. Post 3 of catching up!
After our breakfast @ 8.30am (Which took us almost an hour), we headed down to the lobby to use the wifi, then headed out to town.

We headed out at about 10am and went to NHK Osaka branch building. This is the only sightseeing placed I had planned for Osaka, as I somehow feel like none of the other stuff is interesting. (Let me know if Im wrong, I dont mind coming back next time for the awesome dinner and breakfast, LOL.) Saw a couple of shows being filmed and stuff, and went to the activity area. You can get yourself on tv and mixed into videos through the blue backdrop technology which is quite fun. You can even do a news report and get it recorded down onto dvd to bring them home, heh. Quite a cute place, but barely took us half an hour to explore. Only recommended if you intend to enter one of the film's showing sessions to get the full experience.
After NHK, we headed on to Osaka's Den Den Town! (Think of it as Osaka's version of Akihabara, but probably on a less otaku version) We walked around, and bought a few stuff, then got our lunch at a small Okonomiyaki store. The place is owned by this old lady, who probably stays just above the store as we saw stairs at the back of the store. Real traditional stuff, heh. Food was not bad, though it was cooked for us. We will go to a proper Okonomiyaki place to cook our own food hopefully tomorrow or Thursday.
.... Im sure everyone is wondering if this is real, LOL! It is!!! After lunch, we walked on for another 10+ minutes and we found a duel terminal. Played it for abit, but we got impatient after a couple of games and started choosing the "Card Only" option after awhile. *Censored* yen spent and we got the card, woohoo!! Furthermore it is the first Ultra card which we got from the machine as well. Counting our blessings, we made a quick retreat. Meanwhile, emo Japanese guy was spotted watching us playing and shouting about Trishula at the side. We took this photo only after he left.

Even though it is on a much smaller scale, the place is still quite a big place to explore, so I cant show you all the pictures. Again, see me for more photos. There were lots of interesting shops all around and we were tempted, but me and Baha generally kept our ground and bought minimal stuff (Especially me, I have only been getting stuff for other people so far, havent seen anything I really wanted yet), since we would be able to get them in Akihabara. Only exception here is Angryboy, who including all the various cards which he was helping to get for other people, spent $1XXX just on cards alone. And this is excluding figurines and stuff, LOL!
We also found a card shop where there were some people playing. Angryboy and me played but Baha didnt bring his deck so he was just a spectator. Here are the results!

Woohoo, brought some face to Singapore! JD (Japan Duelist) B kept encouraging JD A to win to defend honour of Osaka, LOL. Guess they didnt expect that I could understand what was said. So after he won Alex, I did some avenging and challenged JD A and managed to win. So to win back, JD B challenged me, and I managed to survive Infernity again! 2nd round got 2nd turn triple Trishula and D. Arms, so no choice. First round and 3rd round I just kinda rushed him. Most epic was the 3rd round where he had set up with grepher throwing in beetle and demon already. So expecting gun, I Big Freezed him and managed to rush him within the 2 turns using AGGD and Fortress, woot~
The day ended with us leaving as the shops started to close at about 8pm. We got some dinner at Yoshinoya (Just to try it out since we were there) Menu was more interesting there, with the food obviously tasting better. However, prices were actually comparable to Singapore as you can see from the menu. Quite nice, though obviously majorly cannot compare to our previous day dinner, heh.
Tired out from the whole day of walking, we made our way back to the hotel and everyone quickly showered. I obviously went on to the public shower. However, abit less enjoyable as there were a couple of high school students there, and they started pouring in while I was inside. I did my 15 min soak, went upstairs and we all quickly fell asleep....

Day 4 in Japan (Morning)
Alright guys, as usual, gonna do my hotel promotion post, LOL. Our Osaka hotel is Yamatoya Honten, link at here Our damage for this place are as follows:
17,850 yen each (About S$283) = Includes awesome dinner and breakfast
5,775 yen each (About S$92) = Without awesome dinner and breakfast
*Yes, our awesome meals cost us $200, LOL
Our room is a 6 tatami room (Rooms are usually measured by number of tatami in Japan), so it just nicely fits 3 people. After our awesome dinner though, the table has to be moved away to the corner of the room to fit our futons. Windows can be covered by the paper frame slide doors. We have a view of the canal from out of the window.
This is my nice fluffy futon laid out in the room. Futon is kinda just a comforter on the floor, so its pretty hard, and might need getting used to. Then our pillows are quite interesting, as it is filled with beans on one side, then cotton on the other so that you can choose which side to sleep on. Sleeping on beans is obviously harder, but it sorta massages your head as you sleep, so you supposedly wake up feeling fresher. Blankets are as fluffy as ever, and comfortable to sleep in.

The cupboard and closet for stuff. Kinda like the Doreamon cupboard which you guys see, just that ours are filled with the usual futons and blankets inside. Yukatas are also available in the closet with different sizes available. We kinda just slept in them most of the time.
Our toilet! LOL. Our toilet is in a seperate room from our shower room, with the ultra advanced toilet bowls. They have heated seats, and bidets, allows you to adjust temperatures, water levels, etc. The best part of the hotel which I think Singapore should take up, is that the water in the toilet bowl is refilled from a tap above the toilet bowl. So what happens is you're done with your business, you flush, and the water in the tap starts flowing, and enters the storage part through a hole at the bottom of the tap. You therefore get to wash your hands, thus saving water! Though obviously if you do something like spit and what not, you get to see that come out as your flushing water later, heh.
And finally, our shower room. Shower room is further seperated to the shower + tub in the inner room, and the basin in the outer room, so we kinda have more like 3 rooms for the toilet stuff. Tub is finally big enough for us to properly lay inside, though I personally prefered the public shower for the awesome factor.
Finishing off this post, I present, our breakfast! Breakfast is another 10+ dish breakfast. (Dinner was more like 16, while Breakfast more like 12) Tastes seriously awesome.... I have NEVER had such a great breakfast! We grilled our own fish, and the egg roll was awesome. There was also tofu and stuff, with all the vegetables just tasting so fresh. Then the boiled egg with cold noodles was just yummy stuff....
That ends Day 4 morning post as I would have done it originally. Onwards! (Have been at the computer typing non stop about an hour so far, woot)

And finally, our shower room. Shower room is further seperated to the shower + tub in the inner room, and the basin in the outer room, so we kinda have more like 3 rooms for the toilet stuff. Tub is finally big enough for us to properly lay inside, though I personally prefered the public shower for the awesome factor.
Finishing off this post, I present, our breakfast! Breakfast is another 10+ dish breakfast. (Dinner was more like 16, while Breakfast more like 12) Tastes seriously awesome.... I have NEVER had such a great breakfast! We grilled our own fish, and the egg roll was awesome. There was also tofu and stuff, with all the vegetables just tasting so fresh. Then the boiled egg with cold noodles was just yummy stuff....
That ends Day 4 morning post as I would have done it originally. Onwards! (Have been at the computer typing non stop about an hour so far, woot)
