Change of deck~

Whats going on recently in the machine king's mind?

Well, I decided that the Zwei deck has a not very strong success rate (At least not until I find like 3 prismas), especially with the current build using DNA surgery. Reasons why.

1. Too slow, easily overtaken in card advantage by lightlord and others (When I have a hand that is fast, I can still win those decks, but a slower hand gets over-run easily)
2. Too many cards need to stay on the field to maintain the card's speed. Therefore, especially weak against decks like GB (E.g. DNA surgery)

Due to the above 2 reasons, I decided to dismantle my Zwei deck for the moment and concentrate on the combi between Antique Gears and Machiners. I must say the deck is turning out quite well, with very good synergy in between. Plus my old Machine deck speed of quick 2nd / 3rd turn kills is back, so its fast! As usual, I will prob not post out my deck anytime soon due to more testing, especially not until the deck is actually released.

Meanwhile - New tech card: Gaia Power!

Fluffy!

Fluffy is a Hot Milk drink with Marshmallows in Singapore McDonalds.

While playing yesterday, my Cerberal slipped out of my hand and almost fell inside the cup.

It is now called Fluffy.

Moral of story: Never ever play with your drink at the M/T zone.

Necrovalley and weird rulings

So I hate Lightlords when I play MGS. The other day someone asked me if Beckoning of Light will be negated by Necrovalley. I just took a quick glance at Beckoning, and said yes it will be negated.

But because I'm a nice person, I went to look it up anyway.

First thing that appeared on my screen.

Totally do not make sense.

Beckoning Light
Effect:
Discard all the cards in your hand to the Graveyard, then select a number of LIGHT monsters from your Graveyard equal to the number of cards you discarded, and add them to your hand.

How is this not targetting? In the world of Yugioh, any card with the word "select" on the effect should be considered as targetting! At least that is what I thought...

Anyone wanna try it out on your PSP/NDS and see if it works like that? The ruling is quite old.

Thanks to Akira for clarification.

Ok so I am back to happy that Necrovalley does work even though it wouldn't matter due to the random Celestia, Lyla and JD rape.

================================

Btw, I still lose that match anyway coz Judgement Dragon is skill. orz

Yes Samuel I am talking about you!

Necrovalley MGS AKB

This is something that I tried recently. It work but also still missing something.

"I am seriously getting lazy to write the full name of monsters"

Monster [26]

[1] Gorz
[2] Tricky

[3] GK Spy
[3] GK Commandant (field search)
[3] Grimro
[3] Cerberal
[3] Kushano
[1] Cruz
[2] Ganashia
[1] Cashi
[1] Chawa
[1] Rescue Cat
[1] Morphing jar
[1] Dandelion

Magic [10]

[3] Necro Valley
[3] Pot of Avarice
[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Mind Control
[2] Royal Tribute

Trap [4]

[1] Torrential Tribute
[2] Thunder Break
[1] Trap Dust chute

- Necrovalley prevents Necro Guarda and undead self touching
- Stardust and Necrovalley protecting each other is skill
- Royal Tribute is skill, the sole reason of playing Necrovalley in a MGS deck lol.
- Everything else feels about the same including how I still have problems against Lightlords. =(

Zwei fun deck!

Alright people. Managed to steal some Zwei so I took it and formed a deck to play with while Im still waiting for my SD to come. (Lots of cool stuff to think of before that, heh). So first up, here's the deck list!

Monsters (22):
[2] Cyber Eltanin
[3] Tragodia
[1] Cyber Dragon
[3] Cyber Dragon Zwei
[1] Proto Cyber Dragon
[3] Blue Thunder-T45
[3] Honest
[2] Fusion Hex Stone - Light
[2] Shine Angel
[1] Critter
[1] Zombie Carrier

Magic:
[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Hurricane
[1] Cyclone
[3] Evolution Burst (Never draw today at all, god damnit!)
[2] Power Bond (Had chances to do, but never draw evolution burst to clear trap = fail)
[1] Brain Control
[1] Limit Break
[2] Enemy Controller

Traps:
[1] God Declaration
[1] Cry of Living Dead
[3] DNA Surgery
[1] Trap Dustshoot

So kinda the deck I used quite a few years ago, but with a few new twists which really makes it a cyber light deck, rather then the current aeroplane decks.

Evolution Burst (Supposed to be strong tech card, but no draw = fail) is a cool addition, summon zwei, evolution burst to clear traps, then power bond/chimeratech fortress, etc nice combos.

Also zwei makes a nice replacement for proto for 2 reasons.
1. When attacking becomes 1800, so can attack over the usual smaller crap.
2. Achieves above yet still summonable by shine angel. Only sad part is suseptible to bottomless so no choice.
3. Grave name is cydra. Not currently, but next version will have overload inside. You have been warned!

For those who are not so familiar with this deck and the combos, heres some ideas for you on what it can do.
1. DNA surgery change all field to machine class + any cyber dragon (fake or not) makes for nice Chimeratech fortress (Advantage minimum +1 by clearing opponent monster)
2. Shine angel calls zwei/hex stone, whichever you are short of. Then summon the counter part next turn to call out cyber twin dragon
3. And of course, powerbond is cool stunt. Just that today faced too many last boss deck (Cosmos + lots of traps) = have to do stunt carefully.

Ok, will end off here for now. This is really just beta 1, and quite pleased results turned out not bad. Will have beta 2 up for next week, woot~

Don't be shy!

Do register and share your scrubbing moments.

At the moment its not really filled since we just finished one unawesome tournament. Expect it to be filled up this weekend, few tournaments to look forward to. =)

PS: Dont ask me whose the 1st and 3rd. No offense, but I dont know them at all.

My new cool playmat!

Yugioh Asian championship 2010 and conspiracy theories

Yay I scrubbed again!

I was using countdown deck btw lol.

It is boring as hell and you will have to get creative on how to waste time.

Well anyway I won 2 games from sudden death. The other 2 games was Jess and his Jinzo (!) and Sam with his Divine Wrath (!!) which obviously was a turning point.

On to the next topic!

This tournament was a total flop.
- Allowing cards that are on a list of cards that cannot be played (yes there is a list)
- Not the sponsor, not Konami HK, so uhm, who else could it be, hmmmm...?
- 100+ people with just 4 round swiss? Even worlds had 5 round swiss with just 23 people.
- Swiss pairing was obviously rigged
- Many 4 wins participant had their hopes up and then they announced that it was just top 8.
- There were more than 8 players who had 4 wins lol
- Organiser did not get enough space to accomodate the players thus dividing it into 2 waves.
- Technically it was an 8 round swiss since each round had to be played twice.
- Custom Playmats are not allowed.
- It is just a piece of cloth/paper where you place your cards on for god's sake! And it was yugioh themed, it had card zones, it has no obscenity/profanity, what was the problem? What has "it has to be official" got anything to do with what I am playing my cards on.
- It's not like my custom playmat boost my luck by 50% (oh sad to those duelist without my sexy luck boosting playmat)
- The head judge was a participant despite years of discussion and flames regarding how judges/organisers shouldn't join their own tourney

The list can go on, but the main point is the pairing system is rigged in their favor.

====================================

Swiss Pairing System

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_system_tournament

The principle of a Swiss tournament is that each player will be pitted against another player who has done as well (or poorly) as him or herself.

We had 3 pair downs for round 2. There were 3 players who had 1 win who were paired down to 3 other player who had 0 wins. I was one of them. Shouldn't the people who had 1 wins be against each other and the 0 wins with each other. There should only be one pair down, stop manual pairing you dumb ass.

Conspiracy was confirmed when the second wave of round 2 had a player who had 1 win, and he got a BYE! Did I mention that guy was a member of the judges team? Only people with the LEAST score should get a BYE, learn to cheat!

Btw, when I say "second wave" it is basically the same round. There are only 42 tables. So table 43 onwards have to wait and play when the first 42 tables are done.

There is no way a 1 win can get a bye in the same round as 3 other players who get a pair down.
Sure blame it on the system error.

Round 3 conspiracy got even stronger.

No player is paired up against the same opponent twice.

My friend met his round 1 opponent again lol. System error? I don't think so. More like manual pair error.

====================================

Ever since the new team of judges take over, it gets worse and worse.

First it was the rulings, fine that we can overlook that since you are not all knowing and know all the rules on the spot. It is also a common happening in the US and their tournament is like 5 times bigger than over here.

But the MANAGEMENT? I think there is no excuse how it can get poorer every year.

Blablabla you may now start saying "oh wow you should try organising one yourself".

Yes I have no tournament management experience but if I judged and managed tournaments after at least 3 years and still suck at it, imo I SHOULD be replaced. What is the use of having feedbacks when instead of listening and improving on it, most of the time it is just ignored and usually accompanied by retaliation flames and threats such as "if you don't like it, don't join" rubbish.

Update:

I am blamed for the the last minute changes. Because
- I was playing a deck that requires me to spend all 40 mins + few mins to side and win by sudden death
- I wasted too much of their precious time that there was no round 5.
- I wasted too much of their precious time that there was no top 16.
- I only won 2 matches by sudden death, the other 2 I did not even reach half time. Learn2Maths?

Precious time = 2 mins of side deck and 4 turns of sudden death which couldnt be longer than 5 mins.

News Flash: I was not the only one who got into sudden death thx. I can name a few of others who were also in sudden death and they were playing lightlord deck.

@Demon Chain

People are overhyping this card.

Continuous Trap
Activate by selecting one face up monster on the field. The effect of the selected monster is negated and it cannot declare attack. When the monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Sure it's a free single target monster effect negation and prevents the monster from attacking all rolled into one.

But have you ever considered what you intend to negate?

*ALL BOSS CARD SHOULD DIAF*

Assuming we negate boss monsters (insert JD, DAD, Gyzarus or any monster that destroys the whole world), what are you going to do next after you stopped it.

The next logical thing to do is of course get rid of it, how? Destroying it by battle is almost not possible unless you have your own boss monster or some sort of support card or you can simply Smashing Ground while destroying Demon Chain in the process.

So in the end, you spent at least 2 cards (or more) to get rid of that imba thing which is the whole point of using the effect of a boss monster in the first place.

You will almost always lose advantage while using this card unless you totally have no intention of destroying it and stall till time is called.

Skill Drain is better, true story.

Edit:

Ok fine I shall put in some useful words to this "unawesome" card! But I need 3 so that I can prove that it is un-"unawesome"!

=============================

In other random news of the day!
- Black Rose Witch is cute >_<
- Will we finally see 3 Brionac Undead Self Touching for SJC?
- I am not Singaporean
- Am gonna buy a block of tofu to smash Colin's head in for his birthday

Random news is random.

ABPF Stuff...

Well, first up Im just gonna put up what I managed to pull I guess...

So Baha like totally cheated, even though he traded for 1 of them, he already has 2 demon chain... I kinda think my foils are crap... Worse is I didnt even get a single zwei and shretsudder lor. Will have to get those as singles i guess. Somebody sell me cheap thanks, LOL.

Anyway, full spoiler is out for those who are interested, please click on HERE to get to shriek.

First complain... Total Betrayal!!! Drill Synchron text states only warriors on the field get the effect. Therefore, zzzz.....

Second complain... This set is crap... Only SLIGHTLY notable cards as follows... (Not in order of merit...)

1. Battle Fader
2. Dark Bug (Combo with Kushano for easy Unicorn anyone?)
3. Black Rose Witch
4. Reptiless Naja (New banisher kinda monster, with alright effect imo)
5. Core Chimera Urknight (Quite strong really. Easy field spamming for theme deck?)
6. Codalus (Pro card! Searchable card with 1 for 2 built in. God Sea attack anyone?)
7. Holy light (Well, problem is everyone will be lightlord/gb for next 4 months though)
8. Xx-Saber Hyunlay (Almost heavy storm, but only for theme deck)
9. Treasure of Harmony
10. Demon Chain (Not very usable for current meta though. Lockdown that JD maybe?)
11. Claymore Dud (Playable if you think about it)
12. Reversal World (Trick attacks against opponent?)

I know I named 10+ cards, but seriously all of the cards are either for theme decks, or very side deck usage kinda stuff. This is a shitty pack at the moment, but I somehow think that some future pack will release that will suddenly make some card from here very useful next time? (Think Crimson bird for the older players) Well, at the moment nothing of that sort, so... Crap pack!

ABPF pulls

By request these are the foils that I pulled yesterday night.

Super boring, I know lol.

PS: I destroyed Sam & Max combo!

Another wonderful luck today, which means "awesome" weekend next week...

Deck can be found below after I finish my dinner.

================================

Side topic: MGS and Top decking.

Sure it all looks like top decking coz I have very low number of hand cards. Technically it is not a top deck since I am voluntarily reducing my hand size such that I get to use Legion's effect.

Just think of it I get to use Pot of Greed =D

MGS AKB Ver 1.0

Monster [26]

[1] Emissary of Darkness Gorz
[3] THE Tricky

[3] Fiend Roar Deity Grimro
[3] Fiend Roar Deity Kushano
[3] Fiend Roar Deity Cerberal
[3] Fiend Roar Deity Cruz
[2] Fiend Roar Deity Chawa
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Ganashia
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Cashi
[2] Gravekeeper Spy
[1] Gravekeeper Guard
[1] Summon Priest
[1] Rescue Cat
[1] Dandelion

Magic [8]

[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Mind Control
[1] Brain Control
[2] Foolish Burial
[3] Pot of Avarice

Trap [6]

[1] Torrential Tribute
[1] Trap Dustshoot
[2] Mind Crush
[2] Thunder Break

Extra [15]

[1] Ice Barrier Dragon Brionac
[1] Goyo Guardian
[1] Black Rose Dragon
[1] AOJ Decisive Arms
[1] Ancient Holy Wyvern
[1] Gigantech Fighter
[1] Mist Wurm
[1] Tempest Magician
[2] Arcanite Magician
[2] Fiend Roar Deity Legion
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Levuathan
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Valkyris
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Unicor

Side [15]

[3] Cycle Leader
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Cashi
[1] Fiend Roar Deity Ganashia
[1] Cyclone
[1] Cold Wave
[1] Thunder Break
[2] Imperial Iron Wall
[2] Bottomless Traphole
[3] Mirror of Curse Words

A lot of patience required to play this deck.

Basically you wanna set up either for big Wyvern or Arcanite Tempest to OTK.

Arcanite Tempest is a little hard to set up since you need Kushano, Cerberal and a successful Spy.

Yes I do realise there is so little spell you are wondering why I even have Summon Priest! Taking it out for next version lol.

Mind Crush is just something I am trying out since it is not exactly a draw back even if you miss when you keep calling Gorz/Tragoedia.

The rest is pretty much self explanatory.

Side deck also kinda obvious.

Still in the midst of fixing.

MGS boomz all over the world

Yes I just had to insert the boomz joke somewhere.

Even 店長 is doing it too.

Yes I am aware that it is Japan and they probably came up with it first.

Main point is, more and more people are playing it. o.o

Machiner Fortress with Roid!

Alright, tested out the machiner fortress yesterday (Printed out yes) in a roid deck. Well, result was not that fantastic, so I guess the build is not so successful. However, I tested this build because I did think that this was the less successful one, so I wanted to build it first before I build the other version and got happy with it. Here is a basic deck list!

Monsters [21]:
[3] Tragodia
[1] Cyber Dragon
[3] Armoroid
[3] Machiner Fortress
[3] Steam Roid
[2] Drill Roid
[1] Submarine Roid
[3] Express Roid
[1] Card Gunner
[1] Zombie Carrier

Magic [14]:
[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Hurricane
[1] Cyclone
[1] Brain Control
[3] Enemy Controller
[1] Future Fusion
[1] Megamorph
[1] Limit Break
[2] Hand Severing
[2] Foolish Burial

Traps [5]:
[1] God Declaration
[1] Tidal Wave
[1] Cry of Living Dead
[2] Thunder Break

After some various testing heres a few things I learned in this deck.

1. Machiner Fortress last effect is useless.......
- Why? Im ruling similarly to sprit reaper since no ruling is out on it yet and the text is similar to me. It must remain on the field for it to take effect. Therefore if it hits Ryoko, it is targetted yes, but it dies before its effect resolves. Kinda like why you can book a moon a spirit reaper and the spirit reaper gets covered but does not die. Same goes for brionac, etc. So... In current metagame, or even out of current meta, cant really find any effect monster that targets where it still survives/stays on field... Of course I might be wrong with this ruling, so... (IMO, at least 80% accurate though)

EDIT: Machiners Fortress effect confirmed to work unlike spirit reaper, as it goes through once the targetting starts, even if it is no longer on the field in the end.

2. Future Fusion + Expressroid is strong
- Basic combo would be to call for Chimeratech Over Dragon, throw out all the machiner fortress and armoroid. Then just summon Expressroid, take back 2 armoroid, discard again for 2 machiner fortress. I actually did a Future fusion while i had living dead on field, and another expressroid in hand. So I threw out another expressroid with the future fusion, living dead that to take back 2 armoroid. Next turn just summoned more, etc. Revival effect is too strong, card of safe return is so not coming back.. (Note revival effect's discard is part of effect, its not a cost, so no worries about oppression, etc. Non believers can refer to wiki and compare this with zombie carrier, as well as Demon Roar Raven's discard effect)
PS: Thats why the Jinzo returner combo will work with fortress too!

EDIT: Error, official ruling has been posted. And despite my desperate attempts to point at card text, it is more similar to Cydra, so may be oppression and god d, but not chariot.

3. Machiner fortress strong against stardust!
- Same attack, so its useful to just suicide against stardust, and yet destroy another card on the field. Suicide against Gorz, Goryu etc is good as well to just clear big stuff, but stardust gives the most benefit.

So, all in all was a learning experience on how this card works, and some of the combos for it, as well as how it interacts with the many cards in the current metagame. Not being afraid of honest / Kualat makes it a very good fighter against those decks!
- Next up, Antique Fortress!
