[Card Review] Armshole! Overrated? Part 1

Seems like I have a lot of shit to post this few days.

I will probably be flamed by many of people for actually thinking that Armshole is overrated...

"Overrated? Like no ways! It's at least 90 dollars for god's sake!"

But by the end of this review, it might change your opinion about this card and whether or not to spend your money on this card! Now, before the flames begin, I'll just put the effect and some common usage of this card.

Armshole
Normal Magic
Send the top card of your deck to activate this card.
Search for an equipment card from your Graveyard or Deck and add it into your hand. On the turn this card is activated, you cannot Normal Summon for this turn.

"Bah, this nub is probably saying Armshole suck coz he doesn't have one!!"

........
.......
......
.....
....
...
..
.

Nope I have alot of Armshole, now stfu and listen!
Picture is for illustration purpose only. Not for Sale!

"Wtf is wrong with this guy, claiming Armshole is not good and he has so many!"

Ah, the card to go crazy for. People use proxies and everything just for the sake of using this card. But is it really that good?

Sending the top card of your deck is not even considered a drawback since it helps to throw you the extra dark into the grave if you are playing a dark deck and you are lucky. And of course shit happens especially when you have my kind of luck. Armshole throwing Armshole, Armshole throwing Monster Reborn is a common sight. The bad luck list goes on...

I'm sure we all know what to fetch for when you activate this card. The all powerful Premature Burial. Using Premature Burial to summon Magician of Black Chaos is one of the overpowered usage of this card. Continuous use to fetch DDR to create a soft loop to keep special summoning MOBC was labeled as overpowered and gay. Another use is using this to summon Diskguy and then usually followed by a Crush Card Virus netting some crazy advantage over your opponent.

Another common use is splashing this into OTK decks. Armshole searching for Power Of Unity/Megamorph is totally not cute at all. I had my 7000 attack Red Demon ram a certain player's ass the other day. I was quite angry since I keep hitting into Gorz or Necro Guardna. So I just make it easy, get ram by 4 2xxx attack monsters or get ram by a 7000 attack monster.

Most of the abuses usually involves Premature Burial since special summon is the most overpowered thing in this current banlist.

So far right now, the Pros are outweighing the cons zomg! Is it really overrated? Stay tuned for part 2!

"....!!"

Shameless post!?

I think Japanese people are secretly viewing my blog!

■上位デッキ

3位:シンクロダムド/くらら

Synchro Dark Armed for all top 3??

Yes it is shameless of me to think that Japanese people copy my idea ahaha. But yah means I am closer to enlightenment, closer to being a crazy Japanese dude with a crazy deck!

Well anyways, from the 3 decks, the common cards are...

- Dark Armed Dragon
- Summon Priest
- Rescue Cat
- X Saber Arbellun
- Lightlord Hunter Raikou
- Combination of Black Panther/Death Koala/Koalako
- Cyber Dragon
- Gorz
- Armshole

Nice.... A great tip for those starting out to build the deck =)

-----------------------------

On a side note, I found more tournament decklist from other sites. This time its all 3 decks has Teleport and Clevonse haha. The tournament decks are becoming standardised liao. It's DARK SYNCHRO GUYS!

And of course there are lightlords splashed here and there. Namely Raikou and Laila. Told you they were gay...

Study of Japanese Metagame.

Ah, surfing the net while you are bored. You just had to go through all the different blogs of all the Japanese players or you can't sleep.

So it seems that the 3 main dominating deck types right now are:
1)Dark Decks
2)Lightlords
3)Gladial Beast (!?)

Dark Decks

Ah... The most commonly played deck since the release of Phantom Darkness. Most of the builds has our beloved Dark Armed Dragon and Wicked Emperor Gaius. And now even has an upgrade with Emergency Teleport and Clevonse. Looks like I wasn't wrong about these 2 cards.

The deck has a very high damage output. Gaius is easily summoned with Teleport and Clevonse and probably followed by Dark Armed on the following turn. Even if you don't get these 2 cards, the deck has other tricks such as Synchro summoning powerful monsters such as Brionac, Goyou Guardian or even A.O.J Catastor if you are facing Lightlords.

The deck has defense such as Gorz and Necro Guardna which is really a pain in the ass if you don't plan your attacks carefully. And they also help to adjust the dark monsters in your grave for summoning "you-know-what".

Lightlords

Another hot favorite! The deck is simple to built and play. Alot of field destruction effects supported by Laila, Cherubim, Raikou and of course the main course, Judgment Dragon which would end the game in seconds.

I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with the concept of Lightlords. Cherubim is easily summoned with Foolish Burial and Wulf. Clearing the field as you feed the grave and summoning Judgement Dragon for the win.

Great against slower decks that takes time to build their combo. Before you know it, Judgement dragon might just appear and bomb the field and you're dead.

Gladial Beast

Ah hah! Now we enter the interesting part of this article lol. The unexpected new comer that surprised me that this actually made it into one of the meta decks. Yes I previously looked down on them =(

With the new supports from TDGS, they are becoming into a really powerful deck that can anti the above decks. Gladial Beast Chariot basically just kills all of the above main cards. Good bye to Dark Armed, Gaius, Judgment Dragon and etc. Plus, with Equite, you can recycle the chariot and this becomes a little bit of a problem for the above decks lol.

And then of course our main character for the whole deck, Bestari and it's fusion. Destroying any 2 cards on summon + summoning 2 gladial beast after that is alot alot of advantage. Even if it dies, you can monster reborn it and destroy 2 more cards... Nope, it's totally not overpowered at all...

------------------------------------

To be honest, I was about to play Gladial Beast with the intention of studying the deck last week but I couldn't find my GLAS box. I had all the cards from PTDN onwards but no GLAS -_- So yeah, plan was canceled and suddenly there is a sudden boom and it's now the current hot topic. Not that it's all bad, now I don't even have to form the deck, just have to fight with a person who has one to study it. =D

All the above has some weird synchro variation here and there. There is Dark Synchro (like mine woot), then there's Gladial Synchro as well, no Lightlord synchro yet though, except for Lightlord cards splashed into Synchro decks but I don't think that counts.

So there we go. Dark and Light decks tries to kill everyone else while Gladial beast tries to kill them both. I wonder which deck will end up at the top. Gadget decks are nearly extinct, I wonder why...

Btw, I notice the weird trend in Japanese tournament decks now. It ranges from Zero traps to 15+ traps. What happened to classic "reasonable" number of traps per deck lol.

[Deck] Dark Synchro Shokan Gyaaaaa!!

Hi guys, with the lack of update from Mr DS, I just had to fill this place up myself =(

Today I will be introducing probably the most fun deck ever. A synchro deck that can be said is one of the overpowered decks of the current metagame. The only downside is, it requires pretty much Duel Terminal cards so it is actually not easily obtainable.

The deck is slowly evolving as I combine multiple deck ideas and I finally came to this version which I feel is quite stable. It first started out as my nub Psychic Synchro deck and then slowly I got my DT cards and combined them and ta dah, here we go. The idea is there, but I still need to fine tune it to make it more stable than it is. There are of course bad draws of multiple tuners and no non-tuner monsters...

So I present to you my Dark Synchro deck!

Monsters = 19

[3] Dark Armed Dragon
[2]Spirit Destroyer Kycoo
[3]X-Saber Arbellun
[2]Death Koala
[1]N Black Panther
[3]Rescue Cat
[3]Clevonse
[1]Sangan
[1]D Hero Disk Guy

Magic = 20

[1]Monster Reborn
[1]Heavy Storm
[1]Cyclone
[1]Premature Burial
[1]Brain Control
[2]Mind Control
[3]Pot of Avarice
[3]Emergency Teleport
[3]Card of Safe Return
[3]Arms Hole

Trap = 2

[1]Trap Dust Shoot
[1]Mind Crush

Extra Deck = 15

[2]Stardust Dragon
[1]Red Demons Dragon
[1]Mental Sphere Demon
[1]X-Saber Urbelum
[2]Magical Android
[2]Dragon of Ice Boundary Bryunac
[2]A.O.J Catastor
[2]Goyou Guardian
[2]Chimeratech Fortress Dragon

High Level = 3
Tuners = 6
Dark Monsters = 13 + Extra Deck

Note: This deck might look like similar/netdecked from somewhere. But I can only say that synchro decks only has pretty much the same synchro monsters and the powerful tuners are only about less than 5 in number. So putting the most powerful ones in your deck is not a crime. There are also other engines such as Summon Priest + Warrior of Mist Valley, but for me, the point of this deck is not to come out a level 8 Synchro monster, thus it is excluded from the deck.

Main point of the deck is to come out Bryunac as fast as possible. I only summon Stardust Dragon to prevent myself from getting OTK-ed from dark armed dragon, which also explains my 2 traps there lol.

Now, onto the "How to play". Firstly, Rescue Cat into X Saber Arbellun+ 3 star beast equals to Bryunac. Totally no card lost in synchro summoning. And with just a Premature Burial + a Disk Guy or a Safe Return, it is most likely an OTK unless your opponent uses a DD Crow or has some sort of battle damage protection.

Winning hand is pretty easy. You only need
1) Rescue Cat
2) Arms Hole/Premature Burial
3) Card of Safe Return/ Disk Guy

Three card combo to own the world. Here is something for you all to easily digest.

Photobucket
Yes, you can see I'm pretty bored and have too much free time...
Inspired by those books that contain promo, always have Playing guide lol.

This is a simple explanation by my idol, 店長 aka Store Manager. Oh, he is the one getting owned.

How to OTK? Assuming you already have Bryunac on the field, Disk Guy and Premature in hand.
1) Premature for Rescue Cat
2) Throw Disk Guy to bounce Premature Burial, Rescue Cat doesnt die because Premature is bounced back instead of destroyed.
3) Rescue Cat to X Saber + 3 star Beast and Synchro again
4) Premature Disk Guy, oh noes now you have cards in your hand to repeat the above.
5) Show off your Extra Deck and summon all the possible Synchro Monsters that you bought with your savings!

Now you might be thinking, what if there is Gorz? This is where careful attack planning is required. Depending on what monsters your summon, it is usually not a problem. Remember. AOJ Catastor can kill Kaien Token for free, and of course there's always Red Demons Dragon.

The only thing that screws this up is a DD Crow, which is why I have Kycoo main decked. And also, this deck is able to win without even doing a synchro summon. X Saber hand destruction effect together with Kycoo can be quite a depressing moment. Opponent who leave themself open might regret that. Using Rescue Cat to summon two X Sabers will be in for some surprise. You lose one card, they lose 2 cards, yum!

Other extra stuff that I added into this deck is Dark Armed. Dark Armed Dragon is just too strong to not be in a deck like this that has quite a large amount of dark monsters. And what is a Synchro deck without Mind Control and Brain Control. Free Monsters are always welcome.

Avarice is also too powerful to be missed. Rescue cat effect itself gives you 3 monster in grave, using Bryunac effect gives you 1 more assuming you throw monster, Bryunac dies and you got 5 monsters. Or better still if you Premature Burial Rescue Cat and doing the combo.

EDIT: Deck list added.

In the end, the deck is pretty balanced. It can do pretty much anything. Field Swarming, Hand destruction, card drawing, Mass destruction of the field and Controlling the flow of the game with all the different synchro monsters and of course OTK.. Just pray that you don't get bad hand!

To end this article, I would like to say...

8000 LP is not enough anymore!

-----------------------------------------

Off topic: with the release of Hane Kuribo LV 9, I foresee that alot of people are gonna play it wrongly lol.

It's "When a chain happens.." guys! Not "When a card is activated..." See the difference!!!

Urgent ban list.... *And post 100!*

Finally time to do abit of posting here before people start commenting ive disappeared (AGAIN). Kinda real busy with my new job these days so no real time to even look at stuff on weekdays, and weekends are filled up with lots of stuff as well so..... Anywayz, This is post 100! Thanks to the people supporting this place thus far.

Anywayz, back to the main topic, new urgent ban list to be applied, for TCG format again of course. Here's the link, kudos to Zerro

http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/community/forums/thread/1160322.aspx

UDE does it again! Previously was Franken (I havent forgiven them yet), and this time quite killing off all RFG decks. Lagi worse this time round though. Previously they gave 2 weeks notice i believe? Cant really recall already. And now its practically.... TOMORROW. Tons of fun siah, the kp session from the ude players are already appearing.

Well, D fusion gone, return from DD to 1, and allure to 2. If anybody didnt expect this.... *Points finger and laugh* NOOB! Too many return decks are around at the moment already, with the game currently dominated by DAD decks along with Lightlord deck. So for the OCG side, expect to see the similar ban list appear in september, since they should be following suit.

The big question on people's mind as usual I believe. Which ban list to follow? Well, if you all still didnt realise from the previous urgent ban, or were not around then, Singaporeans obviously still follow OCG's ban list. So D fusion, etc wun be dead till september. Just for the guys playing allures in their deck, time to reduce them to 2. So kinda a mix, in the idea that we follow their urgent ban to 2 allures for those who play them, but for return and d fusion, they still maintain as before.

Anywayz, time to go catch some snooze. Posting this at lunch time actually. Yawnz, night peeps!
