Worlds Decklist [Machina Karakuri]

Hi guys, finally got confirmation last night that the 2nd place player at least has confirmed that he will be making the trip, so I will not be going to Netherlands. Since I will not be there, I can finally release the decklist. So for those who are interested, click on!

Deck: Machina Karakuri (No, it is not KMP, since it only has 2 Bulbs, nothing else. Build is very different anyway)

Monster [22]
[3] Machina Gearframe
[3] Machina Fortress
[1] Machina Cannon
[3] Karakuri Soldier 236
[2] Karakuri Ninja 919
[2] Karakuri Strategist 248
[2] Karakuri Komachi 224
[1] Karakuri Guard 313
[2] Grow-up Bulb
[2] Effect Veiler
[1] Unknown Synchron

Magic [13]
[1] Monster Reborn
[1] Giant Truande
[1] Foolish Burial
[1] One For One
[1] De-Synchro
[1] Limiter Removal
[1] Mind Control
[1] Book of Moon
[2] Pot of Avarice
[3] Pot of Duality

Trap [5]
[1] Solemn Judgement
[1] Royal Oppression
[3] Trap Stun

Extra Deck [15]
[1] Aspiring Emperor Hope
[1] Mainspring Armored ZenMeister
[1] Empty Space Sea Serpent Levaiel
[1] Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
[1] AOJ Catastor
[1] Brionac
[1] Black Rose Dragon
[1] Scrap Dragon
[1] Trishula
[3] Karakuri Shogun Burei
[3] Karakuri Steel Shogun Bureido

Comparing to the previous build with the Kikou element, it is basically about the same build, with just more focus on stability and to set up the double/triple Bureido combos by the 1st or 2nd turn. The only disadvantage is that I often end up drawing Dualitys after setting up the triple Bureidos which do not provide as much rewards since I cant use them straight away. However, the Dualities also allow quicker access to Avarice the following turn even if the 3 Bureidos are destroyed by any method, so it is really more focused on stability. For info of the Bureido combos, click here and here.

Lastly for the last addition of Mind Control, with Exceeds around, Mind Control functions as a method to clear the opponent field, removal dangerous monsters, clearing of various advantage givers such as Dandylion and Sangan, so in it goes.

With all that in mind, the deck does not have much space left for defenses, and I needed a 1 card solution that solves most problems in my meta. Between the choice of Torrential Tribute and Royal Oppression, I decided on Royal Oppression, since it would solve my problems, while letting me maintain my field should I draw it after my triple Bureido draw. My decision served me well, since it did shut down alot of my opponent's cards, and yet did not hinder my own deck with the triple Trap Stun mained. Even when I sided out the Trap Stuns against Junk Doppel, my opponents had no choice but to destroy Oppression on my behalf, where I had some other form of defense by then, and be ready to flood the field the next turn.

Thats about it for my worlds deck! Glad that I chose this in the end as my qualifiers deck, and it did not let me down. Just wish I drew that Royal Oppression at that very last match, since it would have meant the difference between lose and win. Ah well, better luck next time!

  1. Nice Deck DSummon . . . Looks really good. Can you also get ahold of the Graveyard BW decklist? I have US Nats next week, and I was planning on playing Graveyard BW, and I actually want to see what made Daniel's build so successful.

  2. wow, I just have to ask, why no dark hole, Mystical Space Typhoon(cyclone) and Solemn Warnings?

how is your side deck like?

  3. is there a cheaper version of Duality that would work in this build. I like it though since i already run a Salvokuri Build.

  4. and would wiseman's chalice be a viable option for this deck since its an Exceed extra deck variant.

  5. awwww this makes me happy with Duality being reprined in CT08 i may very well make a Deck like this after it releases

  6. Because the deck is offensive based, so none of the usual choices like Warning and Dark Hole, since basically the deck is meant to swarm and win without worrying about defense too much.

Side deck is basically the slowed down stuff, such as Gozen Match, Crow, etc.

Actually the deck doesnt really need Duality, though Duality for any deck adds stability. For non Duality and more combo-based build you can check the previous build in the deck archive

Wiseman is no good since the deck doesnt rely on Exceeds, its just an in case thing that I need it

  9. i meant for this build what would to replace duality with.

  10. u need 1 turn for set up the otk (set trap stun). So duality is a great additional draw power.

  11. its great if you can afford 1 or a playset

  12. Pot of Duality is going to be re-released as a super rare in the 2011 Tins.

Otherwise I recommend playing some protection over the Duality's such as Solemn Warning, Bottomless Trap Hole (got to hate those Cyber Dragon's) etc.

  13. Side deck was as follows:
    Gozen Match * 2
    Chain Disppearance * 2
    DD Crow * 2
    Transmigration Prophecy
Dark Sealing Mirror * 2 (For Grave BF and GK Matchups, didnt draw them!)
Cyclone * 2 (For GK Matchups)
    Puppet Plant
    AOJ Unknown Crusher
    Kinetic Soldier * 2

Though above being said, would have prefered Ally Bomb against the various light decks. Sadly not legal for us to use so no choice.

  14. Why do u play Aspiring Emperor Hope over Inverz Roach? Inverz Roach stops Cyber Dragons, Synchros, etc. and Aspiring Emperor Hope is just a 2500 beater.

    ReplyDelete
  15. we can't use it as it's illegal for us due to the format

    ReplyDelete
  16. Though honestly even if we could use Roach, the build worked out well in my aim to concentrate on syncho-ing for only Bureis and Bureidos. Hardly synchro-ed for anything else during the tournament and didnt exceed either.

For all rounds once I succeeded in triple Bureidos I won the game, even if they got removed from field.

  17. Hey DSummon, I'm going on a trip to Singapore. Could you tell me where I can buy Yu-Gi-Oh! cards there? Never been to Singapore once in my life.

Congrats on making Top 3 as well. =)

  18. Our standard hangout is at Dhoby Ghaut train station, where there is a card shop in j-cube and many traders there on Saturdays especially. You can probably try that out.

  22. Just a bit of speculation on my part, but, say Avarice sees some action on the ban list. Do you think this deck could still function properly?

    ReplyDelete
  23. no stardust?? wow, what do you think about adding starlight road into the deck? coz for me, it kinda works alot.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i really don't wanna say the deck is bad or something since you topped, but it seems so incosistent to me.. i mean if you don't have combo you get crushed and veilers literally kill the deck

and you mentioned that you usually get out the triple bureido combo turn 1 or 2, how do you do that consistently without one for one? i mean you can't be drawing one for one all the time, can you?

congrats on making 3rd place :)

  25. just build it out and test it Seki, then you'll understand why without one for one he can do it. I've done it lots of times in my place, it works like a miracle
