Asia Championships 2012 in Singapore!

It's time for the first OCG official tournament of the year!

This year, Singapore will be hosting the Asia Championships again! Last time that Singapore hosted the Asia Championships it was back in 2008 I believe, also when I was head judge. Due to Singapore hosting the Asia Championships this year, our own Singapore Qualifiers will be held in an exciting single-elimination format to find the champion! (Asia countries do not have big enough budget to organize 2 day events sadly)

Right after our own Singapore Qualifiers are held, the Asia Championships will be held straight away. Aside from that there will be a lot of other interesting stuff planned for the players so things should be fun! I should know, I planned the events LOL! Aside from head judge I am also the main planner for the tournament this time round so it has been a very busy few months for me ever since the Top Shop tournament was over. For more information, head on down to the local forum thread here!

  1. "A lot of other interesting stuff planned for the players". Does this imply that there will be side events for players (non participants, those who got eliminated or even those from abroad) to participate in? Do give a bit of spoilers! Thanks

  2. Hi Baha, I read the link, under rules, 5. 19th March 2011 Priority Ruling in effect. What does that mean?

  3. Yup, there will be a side event as well as mini games on that day. Thats about all that I can say for now~

Its DSummon... It means that the OCG 19 March 2011 Priority ruling will be in effect, where monsters do not retain priority.

  4. Hi DSummon, just a question regarding about the duelist ID card.. I just applied on the website already, so i will just head down to Jcube there to ask for it, is it? Thanks!

  5. I believe when you apply on the website, you indicate in where you collect the card? After that give a couple of weeks, then you will be able to check from that venue to collect the card, at least thats my understanding

Now I'm wondering why the formats of each Asian nation in this Championship are different?

In the Philippines' Asian Championship Qualifier (it's gonna be held on Saturday a.k.a. tomorrow), we'll have a modified four-round swiss-style tournament followed by single elimination.

  8. Formats are different partially due to play style of the players in the countries, as well as due to event logistics, requirements, etc. For example, Singapore is doing a single elimination format this time round because we will be hosting the Asia Championships which start right after the Singapore Qualifiers on the same day.
