Reborn Tengu and XYZ Part 2

Just to add on from our previous blog post of Tengu vs XYZ. Guess we have an answer. Once again OCG and TCG will have contrasting rulings on different cards on how game mechanics work. (Note, im using XYZ in this post since Im talking about TCG and not OCG)

Though technically OCG has no rulings on Tengu, Kevin Tewart's answer totally changes things for TCG. Since he considers that after a XYZ summon, the materials stay on the field, no Tengu will not SP another copy of itself after you XYZ. However, should you use the material to activate any effect (such as Roach or Utopia), or the XYZ monster is destroyed, you will then SP another Tengu, since it will then 'leave field', by TCG terms at least.

Interesting things to consider. Since they are on field, what happens to cards like Secret Barriel? Also, since they are on the field, can you use cards like Raigeki Break to remove XYZ materials from an XYZ monster?

So many questions, so little answers, with all of them coming from 1 simple statement. All I know is with this ruling, Tour Guide is too delicious in TCG. What was previously +1 and bad enough now becomes +2! So what are you waiting for, buy your Tour Guides now, while stocks last! LOL
(Tour Guide for Sangan, Exceed Leviair to sp something by removing Sangan, then search)

PS: Best of all, for countries like Singapore where we have access to OCG + TCG cards and can use them for local tournaments, things should get interesting. We obviously rule by OCG rulings, but I would expect people to paste me my own blog post and request to follow TCG rulings ROFL.

  1. if that the case, use Jinzo as a xyz material and its trap negating effect should work since it's not leaving the field, right? By the way, now how should we play? Are we playing the same game? With these nonsense how could they even make a World tournament. I mean which rule will be used? and the other people who use different rules will just have to change all of sudden?

  2. I'm gonna assume that when you overlay a monster, they become some kind of xyz material counters (sorta like in the anime) but when you detach them they become good old fashion monsters

  3. "Players in our countries expect a consistency of rulings. They want things to make sense, they want things to be clear. We hear a lot of frustration from players and judges about having to memorize 10,000+ specific rulings for different cards." - Kevin Tewart.

He's obviously contradicting himself. Now OCG and TCG has totally different rulings. Consistency? Yeah right.

  4. which is why ocg rulings make more sense!! all they want to do is change the rules so that Tengu can work with xyz!!! totally pissed!!!

  5. If thats the case many broken combos will be formed and many will surely abuse it...
I like OCG rulings more since its more balance than TCG (that's what I think...)

  6. I really envy you guys there in OCG!

As for me I just quited the game because of this retarded ruling!

  7. I rarely complain about this game, but this really made me furious.

I really wish I could play the OCG now due to better rulings and organization...why must those territories be on the other side of the world?

    I guess there's always DN...

So your quiting because of this. LOLLLL

    @OT
When XYZ first came out we al thought that when a material monster leaves the field the effect would stay. Things like card trooper would not work because it would not be destroyed. But things like sangan would work. But that changed when we heard the rules. What i thought was weird because that doesnt match the other yugioh rulings. Like when a monster is being equiped by like hero plasma.

So now its this way. It didnt matter cause the XYZ sneak peak pack is out this weekend. So besides the structure decks we havent really used the cards yet. And this makes more sense and this way they will be used more. First xyz where to stupid, no there to good. Make up your minds. =p

Of course I'm not quitting ONLY because of this!

This was just the cherry on top of a cr@p cake called "Konami taking a dump all over the Yu-Gi-Oh players!"

Personally, I never had a problem with XYZ materials not using their effects because this made XYZ more balanced compared to the sheer catastrophe that's called "Synchro"!

You wanna know how the format will be in TCG?

We are going to have Reborn Tengu and Tour Guide of the Underworld mating, with the TCG players in between like a sandwich!

Now that's a nasty sight for sore eyes!

After the mating is done, baby Sangan comes out starving for Duelist flesh!

Ok I'm exaggerating but I think you get it!

And the reality is no laughing matter!

  10. There is no excuse for such ridiculous rulings as this, correct me if im wrong but if konami which creates the game the post the rulings and mechanics of the game, in the tcg they should only really stick to just creating broken exclusives and rules for those cards. Not change rules that have already been implemented in the ocg just because we play in a different country. Konami should just make Rulings standard for both ocg and tcg so crazy rulings like this dont damage the game. Take Magic the gathering as an example (p.s. i dont play magic) there rules are standard worlwide.

  11. Kevin Tewart: "They're considered "on the field" yes, but don't have their 'on the field' effects since they're not monsters anymore. If Exiled Force is an Xyz Material you can't Tribute it. If XX-saber Fulhelmknight is an Xyz Material, you can't negate an attack. Just like if these same monsters were equipped to Relinquished, etc.

It's easiest to think of Xyz Materials as very similar to equipped monsters, at least for now. The main difference is that since they don't occupy zones, you can't go after them with Caius or Raikgei Break or (heh) MST.

    Clear?"

  12. so what will happen in WC2011? What ruling it may adopt? OCG, or TCG?
    Lol.

  13. Tewart says : "Similar to how Plaguespreader works if it becomes an equip spell card, Plaguespreader would be banished when it leaves the field." (after using its effect from graveyard obv)

  14. KT is so retarded to say 'Don't use OCG rules as reference' when nearly ALL cards should be based on OCG rulings.

This bastard has hurt this game too much. May God serve him well.

  15. With all the respect that Kevin deserves as a Konami worker and a very important informer as he is, this was maybe a mistake, this topics need more analisis, more work not like: "do as i say", Konami need to replace this kind of comments from their people 'cause we are in the game too, they need to think before they post this kind of words, and, if they are so tired with so many work, then they need more young and entusiastic pleople for the work, wee need fresh people and we know who! Baha, DS, the other two guys from Japan that are so masters in the game are perfect for the job! please wee need seriusly with this kind of posts not to see it on facebook come on! this is a real job, post it in a real forum where judges can do their correct job and i the actual does not work, let's make another but every change in the game mechanics must be a part of a great big YGO archive where all can quote and be sure of what game are we playing.

    Thank you for your time.

  16. Just a simple question. What happen to the XYZ materials summoned with Rescue Rabbit during the End Phase? Are they destroyed?

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Anonymous: From my experience, I don't think so. Since they are now bond to that XYZ monster.

  18. This is absolutely revolutionary. The TCG rulings has opened up new windows of opportunities. Can't imagine exceeding Revise Dragon with a Dandylion and Sangan, followed by removing Dandylion to gain attack along with 2 tokens, and Sangan the next turn to gain more advantage, netting a total of +3. Absolutely broken. Then again, there's always a downside, which I assume Plaguespreader Zombie will be RFGed should he be revived by his own effect and then removed as XYZ material? Who knows. But at this point in time, this has potential to cause the TCG and OCG to be two very different games.

and yet we will still get the same banlist as the ocg

  20. What happens with "secret barrel"? if the xyz materials they are in the field

  21. Kevin Tewart is not able to rule our games... This is not his job but Konami US don't stop this stupid guy...

  22. I have a question if GK recurter is use as a xyz material and you summon GK decendent can tribute recuter cuz his still on the fild ??

  23. See this makes me happy Konami fixed their retardation on giving tengu its own set of rulings that lacks logic or following its own wording in conjunction with another mechanics ruling via prior to this where tengu could basically rape as long as it exceeded which off the bat i argued that didnt work with exceeds unless they made the materials count as leaving the field which was already stated they didnt.

    ReplyDelete
  24. nvm i retract that last statement .. the fact of tengu getting its effect period if sangan does not makes it completely broken and while konami is at it they might wanna bring back CED and BLS at 3 it makes the same level of sense as allowing tengu to get its effect at all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The most confusing thung is that the rulings for the WC are saying the opposite. So Sangan and Tengu dont get their effects and Carrier is not removed.Tewart so retarded.
