Spellbook/Prophecy

I've been constantly changing deck this few weeks because I am easily bored lol.

I made the Spellbook deck last week after getting the 3rd copy of High Priestess.

Monsters

[3] Effect veiler
[1] Gorz
[3] High Priestess of Prophecy
[2] Justive of Prophecy
[3] Madolche Magileine
[2] Maxx C
[3] Spellbook Magician of Prophecy
[2] Tragoedia

Spell

[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Monster Reborn
[2] Pot of Duality
[1] Spellbook of Eternity
[1] Spellbook of Fate
[1] Spellbook of Life
[3] Spellbook of Power
[3] Spellbook of Secrets
[3] Spellbook of Wisdom
[1] The Grand Spellbook Tower
[2] Wonderwand
[2] Spellbook of Sefer

Note: OCG only, I want to try Star Hall though.

[High Priestess of Prophecy]

The objective of the deck is to farm and get your High Priestess. It is your Master Hyperion and we all know what a bitch card it is when it is on the field and you can't get rid of it. Multiple copies on the field spells good game. High Priestess special summon condition cannot be negated by Thunder King or Solemn Judgment, but as usual you can Mind Crush it.

[Spellbook Magician of Prophecy/ Spellbook of Secrets]

Your tutor for Spellbooks. The Spellbook theme is all about farming and searching and getting your plus ones. A common play is Secrets into Magician into more Secrets or whatever other book you need such as Spellbook Tower which will generate you +1 every turn.

[Justice of Prophecy]

More tutor abilities getting you a Spellbook and a High Priestess. She can dodge Effect Veiler since it triggers at the End Phase where Veiler Effect wears off. Some common combo will be giving her an attack boost with Spellbook of Power to run over problem monster like Thunder King and Evilswarm Ophion.

[Effect Veiler/Maxx C]

Standard main in decks today because there are too many decks out there that escalates. Windup comes into mind. Veiler is also Spellcaster so it has synergy with the Spellbooks. Veiler with Wonder Wand looks stupid, but draw 2 is good lol.

[Tragoedia/Gorz]

Same reason as above. This deck has to farm in order to be effective, we don't want to randomly die on turn 2 even though DSummon summoned Gearframe and Fortress with a Limiter on my miserable Spellbook Magician on the second turn.

[Madolche Magileine]

A Stratos like effect searching for herself. When it is destroyed by your opponent, you shuffle it back and you summon the other copy in your hand to search again next turn. Infinite Stratos! Again it is a spellcaster. 1400 ATK is really good since you can't hit it with Bottomless and she can stay on the field to ward off any attacks from Atlantean Marksman. With Spellbook of Power she is a respectable 2400 that can trade with most monsters (lolMegalo).

[Wonder Wand]

Spellcaster specific equipment. 500 ATK is not much but the effect you want here is the 2 draws.

[Spellbook or Power]

1000 ATK boost and a search for a Spellbook when destroying a monster, what's not to like. I also learnt that when your monster is under the effect of Spellbook of Power and then later on gains some "not affected by Spell effect" like Wisdom or Lance, you still get a search when you destroy a monster. BKSS

[Spellbook of Wisdom]

A Forbidden Lance like effect for one Spellcaster, usually on High Priestess. Three copies is in the deck because ensuring High Priestess reaching the field safely is high priority.

[Spellbook of Eternity]

Recycling Spellbooks that are removed by High Priestess or Spellbook of Fate. I usually combo this with Spellbook Tower if it is destroyed.

[Spellbook of Fate]

Most powerful spell ever. The first effect is quite boring, bouncing a set Spell or Trap back to hand but still useful. The second and third effect is where things get serious. We all know Book of Moon is limited because of its disruptive capabilities, preventing XYZ and Synchro summons. Third effect is Banish 1 of your opponent card on the field which is just too damn strong. I don't need to tell you show strong it it to banish Inzektor Hornet, or Light Pulsar or something as simple as Sangan and it doesn't even need to be face up.

[Grand Spellbook Tower]

Returning a Spellbook to the bottom and drawing a card every turn, more card advantage! Even when it is destroyed you get something. Remember that it counts itself when it is destroyed so you will always get at least 1 spellcaster out. At Lvl 1 there is only Veiler but it is good enough since you can do big plays with Spellbook of Life with its level tuning abilites.

[Spellbook of Life]

Premature Burial. Gets High Priestess back for more deliciousness.

[Spellbook of Sefer]

A new addition from Cosmo Blazer. Copying Spellbook effects is just what this deck needs since most of the Spellbook has a once per turn drawback. Copying Spellbook of Power makes your monsters unfriendly. Even the smallest Spellcaster in the deck, Effect Veiler becomes 2000 atk and can run over Thunder King and then nets you 2 search.

Playing the deck

To get things started, you will need at least a Spellbook Magician or Spellbook of Secrets. Make sure you don't drop the combo of Spellbook Magician into Secrets into Magician. A follow up with Wonder Wand to draw 2 more cards and then a Spellbook Tower is the start you want.

Usually you will have at least 1-2 defensive cards in the form of Maxx C/Veiler and Tragorz unless you are unlucky like me. I started with the above and ended with no defensive hand traps, I got hit by a Magician/Shark/Factory next turn, FML.

First turn Thunder King or Naturia Beast is a bitch to deal with. Thunder King is easier to deal with since anything with Spellbook of Power should solve the problem. Dealing with Naturia Beast depends on what you have on your hand so its all luck, and then you proceed to side deck pls.

That's about it, there is no complicated combos in this deck. You win by maintaining your advantage and you win when they can't deal with High Priestess.

  1. If I may, if you get your hands on some star halls to try them out in a exodia build! Its what I'm doing, I got star halls with book of secrets to rota them out and build counters onto rym(royal magical library) plus I'm try to fit in space for where arf thou (another rota for exodia pieces, in which I think you can combine one day of peace with where arf thou to prevent the drawback of where arf thous eff? Anyways, I wish you good luck! :D

    1. I played against windup just fine.

Just a little problem against geargia though since armor and fortress is a bitch.

  9. Why Majouleine instead of Temperance of Prophecy?

    1. Majouleine is an irritating card against most decks.

The stats trades with Atlantean Marksman and Windup Rabbit. And even if it dies, you just repeat.

The build im running is intended to go for sustain and outlast your opponent with all the 1 for 1 trades.
