Taking a look at the new Starter Deck 2012 cards

The new starter deck brings us 4 new XYZ monsters and most of them are useful.

Rank 3
1500/1000
During the Damage Step, when a "Djinn" Xyz Monster you control is attacking an opponent's monster: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; the attacking monster's ATK is doubled until the End Phase. The effects of "Muzurhythm the String Djinn" can only be used once per turn.

Instant 3000 while attacking a monster. A good substitute for Acid Golem since it has a heavy drawback and not Asia legal. Do remember that it can only use its effect when attacking a monster. Also a solution when you are getting locked by some bitch Focus Force/Streak Bouncer/Tiras when you are using Inzector.

Rank 3
1700/1000
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 Xyz Monster your opponent controls; detach 1 Xyz Material from that target, and face-up "Djinn" Xyz Monsters you currently control gain 500 ATK.

This is the one that sucked compared to the rest. The effect is not very exciting lol

Rank 3
1400/1000
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up "Djinn" Xyz Monster you control; this turn, that target can attack twice during the Battle Phase.

If you are familiar with all the XYZ monsters that performs double attack then you will know that this is useful when you are in a situation where you want to perform an OTK.

Rank 4
1800/2300
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls; change it to face-down Defense Position. If a face-up "Djinn" Xyz Monster you control would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from that monster instead.

And now the star of the show. This is Gantetsu and Book of Moon rolled into 1. The summon is almost guaranteed since you can remove a material to avoid Bottomless. And then you use the next material to turn problem monsters face down. Kills Tiras if you are playing Inzector, its DEF is conveniently at 1700. This also helps get rid of Verz Ophion if you are playing Laval or whatever. Crimson Shadow somehow wont die, BKSS.

Note: all the above effect works with Queen Dragun because she is also a "XYZ Djinn" monster.

Yes the meta now is surrounded by Tiras and Crimson Shadow due to their immunity to destruction which makes life somewhat difficult for Inzectors. But Konami is kind enough to give them more solution so Inzector can trololol everything.

  1. Ten Tempo is the ultimate Xyz killer in the TCG though, since everyone makes Zenmaines with TGU :\

  2. If a face-up "Djinn" Xyz Monster you control would be destroyed

Since the word Djinn is in quotes, doesn't that mean that the word Djinn has to appear in the card name of the Xyz monster you wish to protect with that effect?

  3. Is there a translation error on Queen Dragun or am I just blind and don't see Djinn anywhere in her name?

    1. The Japanese name of Queen Dragun had "Djinn" in its name.

    2. To be specific, the Japanese character you are looking for is "魔人" which is "majin" and it is present in all the cards above.

    3. Ah, I wonder how they'll word the effects in TCG then. They'll probably just say something like "...face-up "Djinn" Xyz Monster or Queen Dragun you control..."

But, thank you for clearing that up.

  5. I thought Photon Streak Bouncer can negate Muzurhythm?

    1. Let's just say there were uncertainties whether or not Streak bouncer can be activated during damage calculation at the time this post is made.
